Classical Sulawesi: Toraja Tour, 4 Days

Sample Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival Ujung Pandang – Toraja (L/D) – [330 km / 8 hrs]

Arrival pick up at Ujung Pandang airport before 12pm or pick up from hotel is at 10am followed by welcome services and departure by private (mini) bus to Toraja land. Transfer duration is 8 hours. On the way visit a Bugis village and stop in Pare-Pare for lunch, then proceed to Rantepao via several scenic mountain passes offering spectacular panoramas. Late afternoon check-in. Dinner at hotel.

Day 2 & 3: Toraja Land (B/L/D)

After breakfast at hotel, 2 days Toraja Tour including visits to the fascinating villages of Tana Toraja with the unique Tongkonan Houses which shape like a ship bow and stern. LEMO, grave yard on the cliff. SUAYA, old royal stone graves of the seventh king. SANGGALA, the tree for the dead babies. LONDA, an ancient natural graves and puppets on the balcony representing the dead. KETEKESU, traditional Toraja village. BATUTUMONGA, mountainous area with fantastic scenery of green paddy field and rice terraces. PALAWA, the oldest village of Toraja with old Tongkonan houses and rice barns surrounded. SADAN TOBARANA, the Center of Toraja Weaving. We will also visit traditional market and If there are any traditional ceremonies occurring during your visits, you will spend time attending them. Lunch to be served at a local restaurant enroute, afternoon return to hotel, dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Toraja – Ujung Pandang – Departure (B/L) – [330 KM / 8 hrs]

Early morning departure for return trip to Ujung Pandang airport -lunch at Pare-pare.
