Agusta Eco Resort

Raja Ampat

Restaurant - Agusta Eco Resort - Raja Ampat Dive Resort - Dive Discovery Indonesia

We are on the private island of Agusta, in the marine park of Raja Ampat, West Papua, Indonesia. We have a privileged position, which allows you to quickly reach the most important diving and snorkeling sites with the four speedboats available.

The island is embraced by a deep coral beach and an astonishing sea. Palm trees, frangipani and bougainvillea offer colors that are difficult to forget.

The pool, also suitable for diving courses held by our instructors, is of fresh water.

We take environmental sustainability very seriously: we have equipped the resort with solar panels, and we pay the utmost attention to reducing emissions and managing plastics.

Cottages

The resort consists of:

5 Deluxe Cottages

The De Luxe cottages, of 66 square meters, are octagonal and built with precious woods and large windows. The furnishings are very neat and of quality: the armchairs, the tables and the sofas are hand-carved in Bali, the handicrafts are Papuan. All the cottages have a double bed *, air conditioning, fans, a mini-bar, a safe and have a large bench equipped with a power socket and LED light for photographers and video operators.

The bathrooms are spacious and divided into two parts: one inside with two lava stone sinks, and one outside, with a shower and a large semi-open space.

One of the cottages has an additional bedroom with 2 single beds; it is therefore a bungalow suitable for up to 4 people.

* on request it is possible to add a third single bed

5 Superior Cottages

The Superior cottages are 46 square meters large, have a rectangular layout, but retain the same characteristics as the Deluxe ones. They are built with precious woods and furnished with sofas and coffee tables, have separate beds (which can be joined to have a double bed), air conditioning, fan, minibar, and safe. The bathroom is large, with an outdoor area and an internal area, and has hot and cold water. From the chairs on the veranda you can admire the lights of the sunset.

5 Papuan Cottages (simple structures that follow the typical architecture of the area)

The Papuan cottages are about 22 square meters. and rectangular in plan, they are built in traditional Papuan style, in wood and leaves, and furnished in a simple but complete manner. The choice of materials and the particular architecture make them naturally fresh: in fact, they do not have air conditioning, but only fans. The beds are separate but can be in a double bed. The private bathroom has a shower, but only with room temperature water. The veranda is always a sea view. The Papuan are more isolated than the Deluxe and Superior cottages, but equally comfortable with the other services in the structure.

Dive Center

The diving center is facing the Agusta pier. Here you can rent complete diving equipment or snorkeling equipment. Refills of 12-liter cylinders can be air or Nitrox (at extra cost).

Every day two to four dives are organized. During the morning briefing the safety procedures are reviewed along with the weather and sea conditions planned for the day, details of the dive and snorkeling sites are described and the assignments of the diving groups to boats and guides are communicated. The divemaster: divers / snorkelers ratio does not exceed 1: 4. In the team there are five instructors, who guarantee fun and tranquility to the guests.

On boats, divers / snorkelers have towels, tea, coffee, biscuits and fresh water available, which are served during the surface intervals. During breaks between one dive and another, we visit beaches, lagoons or local villages. Of course the boats are equipped with oxygen and first aid kits.

In respect of marine life and in compliance with local laws, the use of gloves is forbidden, while every diver must have a SMB available.

Scuba insurance is mandatory throughout Raja Ampat.

The nearest fully equipped hyperbaric chamber is located in Waisai and is 45 minutes by boat from Agusta.

Snorkeling

Snorkeling in Raja Ampat is simply exciting. Hundreds of reef fish species are hosted by an immense variety of perfectly intact hard and soft coral. The color is always intense, and turns from the strongest shades of orange anemones to the pastel of madrepores and alcionaria. Black-tip sharks, along with turtles and eagle rays often keep company while swimming, giving emotions that can only be lived so intensely here. The guides identify nudibranches, crabs and prawns that would otherwise escape the less experienced looks, guaranteeing maximum safety with their presence.
