Big Animals with Amos Nachoum
Are you tired of all the same dive destinations? Been to all of them several times now? Trips with Amos will awaken your adrenaline, he only has a desire and passion for the wild and unusual. NO one else can offer this like Amos…….
Dive Discovery Presents: Big Animals with Amos Nachoum
Your Unique Adventure
Our goal is to see, photograph, and interact with the most imposing inhabitants of the animal kingdom, and to observe special behavior such as predation, migration, nursing, and parenting. Each journey's departure is carefully timed to coincide with peak behavior displays that occur only during two to four week periods each year. Our guests have been witness to the astounding mass sardine run of South Africa, the chaos and charm of 100,000 breeding king penguins on South Georgia Sub Antarctica, polar bears teaching their young to hunt, and the awe-inspiring sight of killer whales in Norway "rounding up" schools of herring.
Big Animals Photography Expeditions has organized expeditions for the professional teams from National Geographic, Discovery and the BBC Wildlife. All of our trips are planned to this same standard so you're guaranteed a high quality level of photographic opportunities and logistical services.
Unhurried Photographic Opportunities
Each trip is led by Amos Nachoum and is strictly limited to only 2-6 privileged guests. This provides individuals with room to move freely, ample space in which to photograph/film, individual photographic opportunities, and personalized attention and advice. As a bonus, our small size has far less impact on the wildlife being observed and their environment than far larger tour groups.

For more than twenty years, world-renowned photographer Amos Nachoum's explorations have been featured by National Geographic, the BBC, and the Discovery Channel. His photo essays have been published among others in National Geographic, Outdoor Photographer, Sport Diver, BBC Wildlife, Men's Journal, Time, Life, and Conde Nast Traveler. The desire to share his special experiences with others has led Mr. Nachoum to create his own exclusive travel company, Big Animals Photography Expeditions.

The Great White Shark - Isla Guadalupe, Mexico
October 10 - 17, 2010: Research and Photography Expedition
Isla Guadalupe
Isla Guadalupe is a volcanic island located 241 kilometers (150 statute miles) off the west coast of Mexico’s Baja
California peninsula and some 400 kilometers (250 statute miles) southwest of the city of Ensenada in Baja
California state, in the Pacifi c Ocean.
White Shark Research
The Centro Interdisciplinario de Ciencias Marinas (CICIMAR) has initiated a research program on white sharks.
CICIMAR is focusing on the behavior, ecology, and genetics of white sharks at Guadalupe Island. So far, they
have collected tissue samples from white sharks for both genetic and stable isotope analyses. CICIMAR has also
tracked multiple white sharks bearing ultrasonic transmitters, and have learned much about their behavioral
patterns while swimming in the waters surrounding the island. Our goal is to help continue this research in
order to provide scientifi c information germane to the management and conservation of this shark species at
Guadalupe Island and throughout the waters of Mexico. Research activities can include, tagging, tissue sampling,
photo ID, and data collection from radio receivers. Leading the research part of this expedition will be Dr.
Alex Antoniou who has been studying sharks for over 12 years.

The Great White Shark
The Great White Shark is a slow-growing and long-lived shark. Additionally, it gives birth to just a few young,
which makes it highly vulnerable to over fi shing and slow
to recover from overexploitation. Because of this, conservationists
have been concerned with the vulnerability of the
white shark to possible extinction, and it is currently considered
a species of concern in the IUCN (World Conservation
Union) Red List. The white shark is currently protected
in Australia, South Africa, Namibia, Israel, Malta, Mexico,
and the United States. Australia proposed the white shark
for CITES III (Convention on International Trade in Endangered
Species) listing and has developed a comprehensive
and multidisciplinary recovery plan for white sharks in its
waters.
