Vientiane
Vientiane ("Sandalwood City") is one of the three classic Indochinese
cities (the others being Saigon, Ho Chi Minh City and Phnom Penh.) It
has a laid back feeling to it with it's exotic mix of Asian influences.
Highlights are Pha That Luang, Laos most saced site, Wat Si Saket, one
of the oldest wats in Vientiane, Wat Ong Teu with it's huge bronze Buddha
and Buddha Park.
Northern Laos
Luang Prabang Province, a world heritage site has many historic &
exquisite temples, hill tribes and stunningly landscapes. Take a boat
trip on the Mekong and Nam Ou rivers and see the Pac Ou caves filled with
thousands of Buddha images! Visit the Plain of Jars near the town of Phonsavan
(1000m high) filled with mysterious stone vessels. Trek to the Hmong villages
and see the traditionally dressed villagers who farm the hills.
Southern Laos
Southern Laos remains the most traditional region of the country and has
the highest level of wildlife within it's forested terrain. Populated
by a mix of Thai tribal groups and various Mon-Khmer groups an expedition
in the part can provide a unique and breathtaking expedition. Take an
elephant trek through a province or while away your hours on the banks
of the Mekong!
