Tuamotu Archipelago

The Tuamotu Archipelago comprises 78 low islands or coral atolls, scattered over several hundred miles of the eastern Pacific Ocean governed by French Polynesia. The most common for divers are Rangiroa, Manihi, Apataki, Toau, Kaukura & Fakarava. Life on these remote atolls is simple and normally quiet and peaceful. The interior lagoons are heaven for black pearl farms, fish parks, snorkeling and scuba diving.

Rangiroa

Rangiroa with it's 42 mile long, by 16 mile wide turquoise lagoon, is the largest atoll in the Tuamotu Archipelago. Only an hour flight from Tahiti and you have landed in the most well know diving paradise of Tahiti so far. The famous dive sites of Rangiroa attract divers from around the world. A breathtaking array of large species awaits divers outside the reef along the oceanic drop-off, including squadrons of eagle rays, schools of black tip, silver tip, and Great Hammerhead sharks, tuna, jacks, and barracuda. The lagoon waters are teeming with neon-colored fish, dolphins, turtles, and giant Manta Rays.
'Shoot the pass' is the adrenaline rush as divers and fish of all kinds are carried away through the pass between the open ocean and lagoon alongside and infinite array of marine life!

THE TAHITI AGGRESSOR will start operation diving Rangiroa and her surrounding atolls September of 2002! This will be the standard Aggressor itinerary with 7nts accommodation and 5.5 days of diving. The Tahiti Aggressor is a 106 ft., 16 passenger catamararan. Eight double staterooms, all with private bath and salon with entertainment center, wet bar, hot tub and partially covered sun deck. All dives are made from the large dive skiff which is lifted to the main level for easy boarding. Nitrox, rental cameras, E6 processing and rental gear and 110volt power are available on board.

LAND BASED ACCOMMODATION has a variety of first class and small pension type properties for all price ranges. Several great dive operators are offered for great land based diving.
