our historic vessel
the sea safari III

• A TRADITIONAL SHIP -- WITH EVERY MODERN LUXURY •

Kararu Dive Voyages’ vessel the Sea Safari III is a 35m (115ft) wooden, Indonesian Pinisi-rigged Bugis Schooner constructed in 1998. Blending in perfectly with the environment, these boats are the most impressive fleet of wooden sailing vessels still in normal commercial work. The builders of Pinisi ships have strong animistic beliefs and spiritual roots that combine with their ancient construction techniques in a way of life that has changed little in centuries and which they believe will bring them prosperity and harbor them from any evil well into the future. Kararu Dive Voyages has utilized these local traditions combined with luxurious interior designing and state of the art dive equipment to meet the specifications of a first class liveaboard. The magical perfection of these vessels and attention to details, safety and well being will be fully appreciated once on board.

Constructed with three decks the Sea Safari III gives you plenty of space to lose oneself; whether it is in the air-conditioned comfort of the large saloon or lazing under the shade of one of the ship’s huge sails. Take advantage of our top-deck bar while indulging in a spectacular tropical sunset. Relax and enjoy the comforts in our lounge area where an ample selection of fish and wildlife books, novels, travel guidebooks, current films and documentaries are at your disposal. Take time to browse through our Kararu ‘Island Treasures and Artifacts’ Shop and purchase memories from this multi-cultured archipelago, known as the ‘Ring of Fire’. Wander onto the bridge and have a look at our route maps and a chat with our captain. Or just quietly retire to your cabin and enjoy the mesmerizing sounds of a wooden ship in motion.

The 12 cabins have individual air-conditioning units and bathrooms, are teak wood-paneled and furnished using locally crafted wall hangings and artifacts from throughout the Indonesian Archipelago. The cabins provide a welcome sanctuary after a day filled with exciting dives where one can kickback and annotate dive logs or just catch up on a good novel.

Our two on board compressors complete with air banks will ensure you unlimited diving at its best. Prepare to suit up from our spacious dive deck where our well designed dive stations will accommodate all your needs. Photographers can take advantage of our individual camera stations & charging facilities located far away from the hustle and bustle of other divers. Scuba diving equipment is available and on board in case necessary.

Kararu Dive Voyages welcomes you on board, where your safety and well being is our commitment.
