Minahasa Lagoon

North Sulawesi, in the Indonesian archipelago, is a fortunate region. You can find animals like the Babirusa - a frightening looking grey colored one-tusked gentle and shy herbivorous wild pig. Other exotic inhabitants in the forests of Minahasa include the magnificent Maleo bird, the Flying Dragon and the Tapir. Endemic wildlife and the myriad species of fish, flora and fauna are reasons enough to explore the region. Crystal clear rivers and streams, enchanting waterfalls, and lakes add to the fairytale landscape.

Not to be missed is Lake Linow; its waters are known to change from dark blue hues to intense turquoise, green and sulfur yellow; this phenomenon is due to the volcanic hot springs, which bubble close to the lake. Bountiful padi fields, aromatic spices, fruits like pineapples, mangos and rambutans are another of Minahasa's gift to its inhabitants and visitors. That is why it is called the place of the smiling people.

From the mid 1980s, Manado is considered one of the most rewarding destinations by aficionados of scuba diving. Its unique biodiversity makes it a sure-bet for a great dive holiday; more species of fish and coral have been catalogued in the region than anywhere else in the world. Within the radius is the Marine Park of Bunaken and Manado - where close to three thousand types of fish, and coral species exists through conservational efforts in their natural habitats. With excellent underwater visibility all year round, diving and snorkeling has never been so much fun.

Since antiquity, this site came to be called "Mangatasik" - "a beauty that leaves mouths open". And that is how we hope it will stay. The resort was designed to compliment the natural landscape. Our efforts and contributions to eco-conservation in Indonesia have received accolades from authorities in the region.

For the exterior and interior, we use quality wood from the Moluccus islands. For the final touches, we use stones from the region to immerse the installation with the environment. All the bungalows are built in the traditional architectural style of the place.

All rooms are fully air-conditioned with a view of the sea from the private veranda. The swimming pool is a safely enclosed area in the sea. The Jungle Restaurant is a unique dinning experience nestled amidst the rainforest high on the lagoon. Facilities for the elderly, children and the handicap are available. Electricity and fresh water are available at all times. The Diving Center, directed by European PADI instructors, offers top of the range equipment like Bauer compressors.

Everything is done to make your stay as comfortable as possible without damaging the wild beauty of the place.

Among the creatures that live in this happy land, the cutest is the Tarsius Spectrum, also called "The Gremlin of The Forest". We chose the tarsier as our logo, because of his extraordinarily large eyes. Just like the rest of us, he wears an expression that conveys perpetual awe at the sight of this beautiful place.

Above water, we spare no effort, but under water the show goes on.

For the last twenty years, enthusiasts have considered Manado one of the most fascinating places for scuba diving, thanks to its unique and unrivalled bio-diversity. In a relatively small area - the marine park of Bunaken and Manado - more than three thousand varieties of fish and about three hundred species of coral are present. Particularly good visibility all the year round makes snorkeling an unparalleled spectacle.

What can we add to such a perfect gift of nature? The answer is quite simple - the best equipment to see it better. The Diving Center is equipped with the most modern gear, such as the latest generation Bauer compressors, and is directed by European PADI instructors. Even if you have never dreamed in depth, we will teach you easily: the courses are open to everybody and are an integral part of the resort's programs.
