Escorted by: Cindi LaRaia
COST: $5,620.00 per person twin share, boat cost only
Join us for this amazing one of a kind trip, Alberto owner/adventurer and I sat together at DEMA trade show and devised a cunning plan for this 14 nt special trip.
We begin in the famous Triton Bay that my beloved friend Larry Smith had sussed out some amazing dive sites! We fly to Kaimana from Bali, board the boat, dive Triton, then onto some new places in this itinerary that only Alberto could find.
We then dive the entire of Misool as we enter from the south having made our way north west up the coast of Papua from Triton. Then we reach Halmahera where they have found some amazing diving there!
We then fly out of Ternate which is in Halmahera to Manado!
Wala, I cannot believe I have to wait until 2012 to do this!!!
This amazing boat is very custom designed and small only takes 8 passengers plus Tour leader, me! See Alberto’s itinerary for us!

Triton bay
Every day we like it more and more. It is true that the vis. is not the best, but it is also true that has the world record of “the most species in one dive” TB offers some unique diving: the size of groupers, barramundis or snappers are unbelievable, the black coral forest are not to be found anywhere else; and let us not forget that some species only to be found here!
|
| Day1: |
Boarding at Kaimana. Afternoon and night dive near Namatote.
Macro life is great around the area: wonderpus, all kinds of pygmey seahorses, frog fish, lots of tozeuma shrimps, a variety of nudies or ghost pipefish can be expected in any dive around Triton Bay. |
Day 2 and 3 IRIS STRAIT: |
The flow of waters bring big amount of plankton and as a consequence, the fish life is some of the best in Indonesia: potato cod, giant barramundi, unique orange cups coral open during the day, schooling anchovies in the surface everywhere. the diving is fantastic, very special and away from what you have seen before, groupers or sweet lips getting cleaned under the shelter offered by the biggest black coral forest we have ever seen A MUST IN YOUR DIVE LIFE!!! |
Day 4 WEST AIDUMA: |
Larry´s Dream will give us the chance to dive among school of snappers, fusiliers, bat fish, an isolated cleaning station might attract some of the giant mantas, wobbiegongs waiting their turn. |
Day 5 WATERFALLS: |
To play under the waterfall is great fun and when it is time to dive around Mommon we can found well over a dozen Pontohi pygmei seahorses in a single rock, the lagoon in the bay seem to be a favourite spot for hawksbill turtles.
An underwater reef, a few miles off, is an oasis of life. Surrounded by well over 1000 feet deep waters the reef stays 30 feet below and gives home of numerous schooling fish, and a beautiful hard coral garden. |
Day 6 PULAU PISANG: |
A different bottom composition. Sand and bommies, some of them 100 feet tall concentrate life. A ridge cover in elephant ears and fans will be among our favourites as well as the channel between the small islands, where mantas can be also spotted. |
|

Misool
Some of the most colourful reefs of the country, if not of the world. Magnificent congregation of soft corals and fans, of multiple tonalities. The protection of this waters is paying off and some big fish are starting to come back. |
Day 7 DARAM: |
The new “hot spot” in Raja Ampat. It is like going to the circus:
light, colours, a never-ending fish parade, some of the most memorable dives on the planet!!! |
Day 8 FARONDI: |
An unbeatable top site, where basaltic rocks mixed in shallow water lagoons, a great underwater surprise: The chances of seeing mobular are big among the channels between the small islands, the combination of fans, cleaning stations for bat fish and sweet lips and a small cave system make the environment extremely pretty. |
Day 9 FARONDI: |
Day 9 FIABACET: probably the best gorgonian reef in the world, giant fans everywhere, out of many colours and surrounded by fusiliers, snappers, barracudas. |
Day 10 BOO to PELE: |
The holes in Boo offer alight show early in the morning, and the ridge south of the islands is regularly visited by a huge school of bat fish. Pulau Pele is where we find kaleidoscope reef, the meaning is a true reflection of the secrets found underneath.
The shallows of this reef are particularly boiling with bait fish, the observation of the simultaneous movements of the ball are worth a dive, not too many pelagic though come here to feed from them. |
| Day 11: |
Transition day between Missol and Halmahera.
Here is where we have a couple of places where fish life is as it best.
The pelagic action we had missed in the last day can be found here, amazing fish life and plenty of tunas, wahoo, mackerel some reef sharks!!! |
Halmahera
Little by little it is becoming part of the “Mecca diving in Indonesia” a great combination of macro life, healthy reefs, incredible fish life and if lucky even some shark action, most of it in the south and west of the big island. |
Day 12 SOUTH HALMAHERA: |
Time to dedicate a day to macro, we will be trying to spot elusive critters: Ambon scorpion fish, frog fish, flamboyant cuttlefish or mimics will be part of our targets. |
Day 13 GORAICI ARCHIPELAGO: |
Some of the nicest top sites of the trip. Pristine and immaculate reefs, nice soft coral, spectacular hard corals and incredible abundance of fish, some of the biggest bait balls have been spotted here. The action is guaranteed. |
Day 14 PULAU HIRI: |
Near Ternate the small island of Hiri offers a great “adrenaline ” dive on its north west corner. The underwater topography is very rocky and tunas and sharks can be spotted here among a great density of fish life. |
| Day 15: |
DISEMBARK IN TERNATE |
