Join me on this fabulous experience to see Whitey and get some awesome photo’s in crystal clear water with several ‘whites in one frame’! Warm water and sunny skies aboard my favorite live aboard!!! GREAT food, excellent wine list and hot tub, and Great Whites! What more can you ask for? It is only a 5 day trip with 3 full days of Shark diving, arrive San Diego the same day Sept 2 and fly home when we get back to San Diego, a quick fun adrenaline trip!!! Lets go!
There is likely no better place in the world to see great white sharks than Guadalupe Island, Mexico. Visibility is usually excellent - 100 feet or more - the water colour is very blue and the seas are generally quite calm. Frequency of shark sightings is excellent and quite reliable and these big guys - including our famous Mr. Smiley - will come right by our 4 shark cages to check you out. Cage time is virtually unlimited after the first morning with one of our guests achieving 31.5 hours in our cages over 3 days of diving!!! Diving with the white sharks from the water level back deck of the Nautilus Explorer is easy and comfortable and you won't find a more luxurious ship to do it from. Our crew of 10 friendly staff are sure to provide you with memorable and excellent service right down to one of our 2 lovely hostesses meeting you with a tray of drinks and snacks when you come out of the water, silvertray coffee service to you in the morning if you choose to relax in a deckchair and watch the sun come up, or coming by our sparkling clear hot-tub under the beautiful starlit Mexican sky to take your drink order in the evening.
Day 1 - Departures from San Diego, California and Tijuana, Mexico to transfer to the Nautilus Explorer and your adventure going face to face and diving with great white sharks. We will have a hospitality suite in San Diego and Tijuana and available for your convenience after 1pm. One of our staff members will be there later in the afternoon to meet you and assist with your transfer to the ship by chartered luxury highway coach. Driving time from San Diego to Tijuana is 1 hour and then it's another 75 minutes to the ship's berth in Ensenada. We will sail shorty after your board for an overnight 22 hour run to Guadalupe Islad and some of the best great white shark diving anywhere in the world. The Nautilus Explorer is a heavy, steel, stabilized ship and the downhill run in open ocean should be quite comfortable.
Day 2 - At sea. Welcome aboard safety briefing. Informative and entertaining presentation on great white sharks. Cocktail hour in the late afternoon (we would of course be pleased to sere cold beer or margaritas to your deck chari anytime). Arrival at our sheltered anchorage at Guadalupe Island just before dinner time. We will put our shark cages in the water tonight along with some scent and chum to let the white sharks know that are ready for them.
Day 3 - Cages open for diving at 0630. Shoreline expeditions via inflatable at 0715 and 1500 to check out the local populations of elephant seals, Guadalupe fur seals, California sealions and even the odd feral cat! We will wrap the diving at sunset and finish the day with a crab feast on the hot-tub deck, hopefully under a beautiful starry Mexican sky.
Day 4 - Cages open for diving from 0630 until sunset. As Captain Mike always says "you can't see the sharks if you are not in the water". This isn't strictly true as the surface action with the white sharks can be almost as thrilling as being in the cages. Plus we will also have an underwater "shark cam" setup and constantly playing on the 42" plasma screen in the main salon.
Day 5 - Our last day of diving with great white sharks. We have found that their behaviour seems to vary according to the weather. On calm, hot suny days we'll have endless sharks all day long. On windy and choppy days (which thankfully doesn't happen very often) sightings become far less frequent. Hopefully everyone will have had lots of great sightings and behaviour and photo opportunities over our 3 days on site. Today is your last chance to beat the record of 31.5 hours of cage time over 3 dive days!! The diving will wrap at 5pm and then it will be time to steam back to Ensenada. The seas are typically an ocean swell of 4 - 6 feet in the trough which is relatively comfortable in a heavy, smooth riding ship like the Nautilus Explorer.
Day 6 - Morning slideshow of the trip's highlights and with a copy for everyone to take home with them as a gift from the crew of the Nautilus Explorer. Summary of sightings and identification of the white sharks that we saw. Pre-breakfast, breakfast, snack and lunch (nobody ever goes hungry on the Nautilus Explorer!) arriving in Ensenada at approximately 1:30pm for port clearance and coach transfers back to Tijuana and San Diego.
