Antarctica Group Trip with Norbert Wu

South Georgia, the Falkland Islands, and the Antarctic Peninsula aboard the Clipper Adventurer
December 17, 2005 to January 7, 2006

Trip leaders: Norbert Wu: as naturalist on board. Cindi LaRaia: travel coordinator.

The Clipper Adventurer, a medium-sized cruise ship that holds 122 passengers, is an ideal vessel for navigating the seas around the Antarctic Peninsula and South Georgia. The relatively small passenger capacity allows individual attention and as many as three landings per day. The cruise ship format ensures the utmost comfort for an Antarctic expedition.

Norb Wu booked this boat after traveling on it to the Antarctic Peninsula in February 2004. It's perfectly-sized for this kind of trip. The larger cruise ships, with 500 passengers, don't allow enough time to spend on land. The smaller boats are not comfortable in rough seas (to say the least). The Clipper Adventurer is almost perfect -- it rides well even in rough seas, but is small enough so that we can get out for numerous day hikes, often two or three times a day. It's far more luxurious than what I am used to!

This is NOT a diving trip. This is a dream itinerary for those people wishing to see the untouched, primeval wilderness of Antarctica and South Georgia. South Georgia is home to the largest king penguin colony in the world and all kinds of spectacular wildlife. We will also visit the Falkland Islands, and, of course, the Antarctic Peninsula.

By bringing a group, we are able to save $750 per person/$1500 per couple off normal rates. The following are rates and an approximate itinerary:
