Group Trips 2005
Great Hammerhead and Tiger Shark Expedition, 2005
led by Shark Diver magazine (NEW)
February
3-11, 2005
"Are you ready for the ultimate shark diving adventure?"
Limited to 8 people - $2,600 Per Person
Photographers,
sport divers and shark enthusiasts are invited to join Shark Diver
magazine to seek out great hammerheads and tiger sharks! Because
the emphasis will be on getting quality photo opportunities, the
spaces available on this charter will be limited to eight people.
Our primary goal is to find Great Hammerheads and
Tiger sharks. These are the largest of the sharks that you can see.
It is also possible to see Bull, Silky, Dusky, Nurse, Lemon and
Caribbean Reef sharks. Although we have had great success in the
past, please understand that these are wild animals and there is
NO GUARANTEE that you will see any sharks.
To insure the best results we will be “chumming”
the water with fish and fish parts. Consequently, there will be
food in the water while divers are in the water. To insure your
safety, we will usually have one or two crewmembers in the water
as safety. Please be aware that these are NOT “cage”
dives, they are open water experiences.
It is very important that divers be fairly experienced
as there can be strong currents. The depths that we anchor in can
be as deep as 100 feet. For this reason, we ask that all divers
be Advanced Open Water certified and/or have a logbook showing the
necessary experience.
Now available to experienced divers only,
night diving at tiger shark beach.
This
trip is going to run for 8 days. We like to insure that we have
weather days and “no play” days covered. This means
that should we loose a day to Mother Nature or have a day where
the sharks just don’t want to play, we still get plenty of
good active days in.
We will have plenty of camera bins filled with fresh
water and our professional crew is very experienced in handling
all types of cameras. Our expedition leaders on this trip will be
writers and underwater photographers, Jim and Anna Abernethy.
Trip Schedule
We will be traveling to the Bahamas on the 65-foot
long live aboard dive/fishing vessel, the US M/V Shearwater. She
has 12 individual beds (3 private cabins with 2 beds in each room)
and the crew will assist you in every way possible and provide you
with first class gourmet dining. Helping to insure that you have
the most exciting and memorable dive holiday ever!
Closest airport to the dock is Palm Beach
-
Boarding time is Thursday February 3,
at 6 PM and we depart at 8 PM sharp.
-
We will arrive at the dive site the following
morning. After your cameras and gear are set up, there will
be opportunities to participate in fishing activities. So there
are plenty of ways to keep you busy until the sharks show up.
We return to the dock at 8 AM on Friday, we will take
the group photo for the magazine at the dock on February 11.
