Undersea Explorer

82ft long, only 19 passengers. Undersea Explorer sails out of Port Douglas, 45 min north of Cairns, for a 6 nt/7 day trip. Offers marine biologists as part of an experienced staff with guest researchers working on the many scientific projects the boat facilitates. Dive the Ribbon Reefs, Pixie Pinnacle (a macro photographers dream), Cod Hole then out to Osprey Reef in the Coral Sea. Osprey is an oceanic reef with 130 ft of visibility and 3000 ft vertical walls with lots of Big animal action, sharks!!! In the winter months for Australia, June & July,
you can get into the water with Minke Whales for the thrill of your life!

MV Nimrod Explorer

3 or 4nt Cod Hole trips. 70 ft catamaran with a 26 ft beam. 18 divers are accommodated in 6 cabins all a/c and private bathroom. This vessel will also include a small aircraft flight to or from Lizard Island and Cairns, to save valuable diving time.

The world famous Cod Hole which is often described as one of the best dive spots on the Great Barrier Reef. The Cod Hole is known for its resident family of Potato Cod which are protected, and have made this small section of the reef their home. They range in size from 50 to 120 pounds.

The average depth of diving is around 18 - 20 metres. The water temperature varies year round, and there is no "best" time of year for diving on the Great Barrier Reef, as each month sees different action - Manta Rays during February/March/April, Minke Whales during May/June/July, sometimes Humpback Whales during August, the Coral Spawning in November, etc.
