Flamingo Bay,Inhambane

Flamingo Bay,Inhambane - Mozambique Dive ResortsFlamingo Bay Water Lodge is situated in the pristine tidal bay of Inhambane 485km north of Maputo, the capital of Mozambique.
The lodge is situated on stilts on the crystal clear waters of the warm Indian Ocean. This eco-paradise is home to flocks of flamingo’s, tropical fish and the very rare dugong. The sunsets at Flamingo Bay are nothing less than breathtaking.
The warm Indian Ocean offers safe bathing all year round and the endless wide open beaches offer hours of strolling pleasure.

PLEASE NOTE: The lodge is not on the open sea but on a beautiful tidal estuary and experiences the same tidal changes as one would experience at any coastal resort. This however creates an interesting environment with the fish following the tide as it moves in and out as well as the birds and crabs and other estuarine creatures appearing and moving with these daily changes.Flamingo Bay has access to the open ocean which is a short walk out the back of the lodge. Guests are also afforded the privelage of frequent and regular complimentary vehicle transfers throughout the day to Barra Lodge in order to enjoy its facilities right on the main beach as well as all the activities on offer.
NO CHILDREN 12 YEARS AND UNDER ARE PERMITTED AT FLAMINGO BAY WATER LODGE

One can fly directly from O.R.Tambo Airport in Johannesburg  to Inhambane or drive the 485km stretch from Maputo. These flights will operate throughout the week.
Situated 485km north of Maputo, access by road is on a tarred road  which is suitable for normal vehicles. The road from Maputo to Xai Xai has been upgraded and resurfaced. North from Xai-Xai there is an old section of road, approx. 70km, which is potholed. This section is being patched and will be completed in due course. After the initial 60km section the road is new and upgraded making the drive a lot easier.

See Homepage/Country Info/Travel Info for more information.
Please note that there are numerous towns and villages en-route and the main road often passes directly through these villages. Speed limits are enforced in these places and it is advised to drive with caution. Do not drive at night. The drive from Maputo to Inhambane can take anything between 6 – 8 hours and sufficient time needs to be allowed to avoid night driving.

From the historical city of Inhambane it is only a 30 minute drive to Flamingo Bay. This scenic drive winds through local villages and groves of tropical coconut trees.

Exclusivity
This lodge is unique and the only one of it’s kind in Africa. Flamingo Bay prides itself in having an undisturbed eco-setting that is peaceful and pristine and we endevour to keep it that way. Because of the setting and exclusivity we do not allow children under 12 years at the lodge allowing guests to appreciate the peacefulness, elegance and romance of this tropical getaway.
