MV FEBRINA

Febrina PNG LiveaboardsFrom the moment you arrive in Papua New Guinea, wonderful things start to happen...

...the vivid colours and startling faces coupled with that marvellous smell of warm earth, sunshine and tropical plants immediately convey to your senses that you are on vacation...

On your Air Niugini flight from Port Moresby to Hoskins in West New Britain, you will also realize that this is no ordinary vacation. Mountain ranges that top 14,000 feet divide the main island. The deeper valleys remained isolated until early this century; the land you fly over is occupied by people who have 700 different languages and cultures that are just as diverse.

The MV FeBrina is fast becoming one of the world's best known live-aboard dive boats. Given a five star rating in all categories in a leading dive guide and highly recommended in the prestigious Harper & Queen, FeBrina is a 72 foot long vessel, fully air-conditioned and fitted with every convenience to make your trip one of the most enjoyable you will ever experience.

Febrina PNG LiveaboardsFeBrina cruises from Walindi, the world renowned dive resort located on the North Coast of New Britain. Walindi, with its fern draped bungalows nestled amongst beach front rain forest, is a perfect home base from which to begin and end your FeBrina dive trip. Diving Kimbe Bay and all the offshore reefs outside the Bay including the Witu Islands and North Coast "Fathers" reefs, FeBrina is your sea borne platform that provides easy access to spectacular dive areas, offering 5 dives per day. Some of those reefs are rarely visited by divers or photographers. They are remote with superb visibility and prolific fish life.

FeBrina is an extremely comfortable boat in all ways, with a friendly and experienced crew providing top class service. Sea worthy and stable, accommodation is in seven roomy twin share cabins with ample storage space. Meals provided by a top class chef are plentiful and fresh, with lots of fruit between dive snacks.

PNG LiveaboardsDiving is easy - FeBrina ties up to permanent moorings on top of the reef thereby eliminating any damage to the delicate substrate. Ample back deck area provides easy access to your dive gear and plenty of room to kit up, and attentive dive crew are on hand to assist divers with camera gear... the next thing you know you are in the water.

"Every dive will be a new experience."

MV STAR DANCER

Star Dancer PNG LiveaboardsAbout Star Dancer

Star Dancer PNG LiveaboardsWith the introduction of two new itineraries for 2005, the M/V Star Dancer offers divers the opportunity to visit many times without ever repeating sites.

From January through March and during July and August, Star Dancer embarks from Rabaul, rich in history and protected from the southeasterly tradewinds by the Gazelle Peninsular. In the early months, Star Dancer leaves Rabaul for the South Coast of New Britain Island where divers enjoy some of the best critter diving available along with an exciting up-the-river trip to a fresh water blue hole for more diving. In July and August, the diving around Rabaul offers great variety from lovely fans and whips to sharks to frog fish and much more.

The rest of the year, Star Dancer embarks from Walindi Plantation located on West New Britain Island on the east side of the Willaumez Peninsula, offering a variety of itineraries which include Kimbe Bay, Father's Reef, Lolabau Island and the Witu Islands. On certain special itineraries Star Dancer also visits Kavieng on the northern tip of New Ireland.

A note from Alan Raabe ….

If you are planning to join us on FeBrina or Star Dancer, I would just like to go over the different itineraries we do at different times of the year and the reasons behind this.

North Coast New Britain itineraries …..

Let’s start with the weather conditions in a normal year on the North coast of New Britain in Papua New Guinea. January, February and March on the North Coast of New Britain is our monsoon season with north westerly winds. From mid-December to mid-January is usually a change over period, i.e. from doldrums (light and variable wind) to north westerly winds and rain. March is a change over period and April is normally a prime month. So the best times to visit us for a North coast itinerary is between April and November, when we can offer a pretty damned special and diverse dive experience... more about FeBrina - Star Dancer itineraries >>
